The reasons for the damage of the turbocharger of the car, besides the use of inferior oil, there are three points

There are four main reasons for turbocharger damage:

1. Poor oil quality;

2. The matter enters the turbocharger;

3. Sudden flameout at high speed;

4. Accelerate sharply at idle speed.

First, the oil quality is poor. A turbocharger consists of a turbine and an air compressor connected by a shaft, which is driven by the exhaust gas energy to form compressed air and send it into the cylinder. In the process of its work, it has a high speed of about 150000r/min. It is under this high-temperature and high-speed working conditions that turbochargers have high requirements for heat dissipation and lubrication, that is, the quality of engine oil and coolant must meet the standards.

While lubricating the turbocharger, the engine oil also has the effect of heat dissipation, while the coolant mainly plays the role of cooling. If the quality of engine oil or coolant is low, such as failure to replace oil and water on time, lack of oil and water, or replacement of low-quality oil and water, the turbocharger will be damaged due to insufficient lubrication and heat dissipation. That is to say, the work of the turbocharger is inseparable from the oil and coolant, as long as there are problems related to the oil and coolant, it may cause damage to the turbocharger.

Second, the matter enters the turbocharger. Since the components inside the turbocharger are closely matched, a slight entry of foreign matter will destroy its working balance and cause damage to the turbocharger. Foreign matter generally enters through the intake pipe, which requires the vehicle to replace the air filter on time to prevent dust and other impurities from entering the high-speed rotating compressor impeller, causing unstable speed or damage to other parts.

Third, the high speed suddenly shuts down. In a turbocharger without an independent cooling system, a sudden flameout at high speed will cause a sudden interruption of the lubricating oil, and the heat inside the turbocharger will not be taken away by the oil, which will easily cause the turbine shaft to "seize". Coupled with the high temperature of the exhaust manifold at this time, the engine oil temporarily staying inside the turbocharger will be boiled into carbon deposits, which will block the oil passage and cause oil shortage, which will prevent future damage to the turbocharger.

Fourth, slam the accelerator while idling. When the engine starts cold, it takes a certain amount of time for the engine oil to build up the oil pressure and reach the corresponding lubricating parts, so you should not step on the accelerator quickly, and run it at idle speed for a while, so that the temperature of the engine oil will increase and the fluidity will become better, and the oil has reached the turbine. The part of the supercharger that needs to be lubricated. In addition, the engine cannot be idled for a long time, otherwise the turbocharger will be damaged due to poor lubrication due to low oil pressure.

The above four points are the main causes of turbocharger damage, but not all of them. Generally, after the turbocharger is damaged, there will be weak acceleration, insufficient power, oil leakage, coolant leakage, air leakage and abnormal noise, etc., and should be dealt with in time at the after-sales maintenance department.

In terms of prevention, for models with turbochargers, fully synthetic engine oil and coolant with better heat dissipation should be added, and the air filter element, oil filter element, engine oil and coolant should be replaced on time. In addition, you can also change your driving habits appropriately and try to avoid intense driving.
